Lesley’s Tap Dancing emulates the styles of our classic Broadway & Hollywood Movie Musicals.  Along with her sister Patricia, she recreates the styles of such legendary performers & choreographers such as…Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Eleanor Powell, Robert Alton, and Hermes Pan, etc….preserving original works and creating new choreography.

On Broadway, Lesley’s work appeared in Tommy Tune Tonite! at the Gershwin Theater.  She has choreographed special routines for the Manhattan Rhythm Kings, as well as Tony Award winner Helen Gallagher. While working for Lee Theodore, Lesley choreographed for the American Dance Machine and worked  with fellow choreographer Robert Tucker on the Dance concert American Snap.  Film audiences have seen her choreography in the film Miss Firecracker starring Holly Hunter.

For television she choreographed special material for the Dr. Ruth Show dealing with teenagers in the performing arts.  She choreographed the Off-Broadway revue It Feels So Good to Be Alive, as well as the cabaret show Judy in Concert. In regional theatre she created new choreography for Anything Goes at Tulane Summer Theatre, and as well as choreographing, she was assistant/director of La Cage Aux Folles at the Showboat Dinner Theatre in Tampa. Her industrial work includes an industrial film for Polygram Records as well as a Japanese industrial for Geoffrey Beene.

She is currently teaching Tap Classes at Steps and a Tap Choreography Workshop at AMDA, NYC.  When not choreographing, Lesley teaches master tap classes in New York City and has also been a guest instructor throughout the U.S., Japan, and Europe.

Lesley teaches Tap with Theatre Dance Movement…the class has a very clear technique with a unique style that varies from Jazz to Broadway Musicals to Movie Musicals.   Class emphasis is on the articulation of sounds, including how to ”tone & color” the Taps…how to use the body in relationship with the footwork and the floor… and most importantly, connecting all of these components together enabling students to achieve excellence in the Art of Tap Dancing.
