NYC’s Dance Makers Inc. is a non profit Musical Theatre Dance Company consisting of mature, “seasoned” dancers as well as the young professional performer.  Dance Makers, is committed to preserving our American Musical Theatre heritage through the reconstruction of our past, classic choreography of Movie Musicals & Television Variety Shows, along with creating new works in the style of some of Musical Theatre’s wonderful choreographers.

We offer the opportunity for the mature dancer to continue working in their craft by performing, reconstructing, teaching and choreographing new pieces while passing on their immense knowledge to the younger generation of performers.  NYC’s Dance Makers also offers Dance Workshops and Seminars throughout the year in Theatre Dance and Tap.  Sisters, Lesley & Patricia Lockery are the Founders & Artistic Directors of this newly formed Company.

Most recently, NYC’s Dance Makers performed their show “Gotta Dance” at The Hudson Guild Theater from June 25th thru the 29th and received “Raves” from all audience members.  “Gotta Dance” is a Musical Theatre Dance Revue performing classic choreography from Movie Musicals & TV Variety Shows.  The styles of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse, Carol Haney & Eleanor Powell came alive on stage.  It was an evening of dazzling show stopping numbers featuring a talented cast of veteran Broadway performers and young professionals, dancing and singing to the music of Cole Porter, Gershwin, and Berlin.   A nostalgic journey back in time!

bullet Some notables who were in attendance to see “Gotta Dance” were Tommy Tune, Tammy Grimes, Rue McClanahan, and   Margery Beddow.

QUOTES:

"They made me want to jump up there and dance with them! But since Terri White's voice knocks my sox off, I'd have had to dance barefooted”.--- Rue McClanahan

“What a discovery!  NYC Dance Makers has got to be one of New York’s best kept secrets, but I can’t imagine that they will stay that way for long.  Their productions get better with every incarnation.  The Lockery sisters’ devotion to dance from film, stage and television is infectious and their ability to recreate those magic moments is thrilling.  I can’t remember when I’ve been in the company of such a toe-tapping audience that left the theatre with such happy smiles on their faces.  I can’t wait to see what Dance Makers does next!”  --- Reagan Fletcher, - Archivist, - The Shubert Archive

“The very talented and refreshing dozen or so people on stage presented two hours of absolutely delightful, refreshing, beautiful, high-quality entertainment.  All of your performers were charismatic, enthusiastic, and virtually competed with the audience to see who could have a better time inside the Hudson Guild Theater.  I cannot wait until you guys perform again. How soon can I see you?” --- Deroy Murdock – Syndicated Columnist - NYC

“I just wanted to tell you again how wonderful the company looked at the Hudson Guild Theatre.  Every time I see the company it looks better than the last time.  I think what you are doing is so important and worthwhile.  Preserving these great numbers from the past so that audiences today can see and enjoy them is a truly important mission.  You are really picking up where American Dance Machine left off.  You have a great group and I wish you all the best”.  --- Margery Beddow - Director/Choreographer/Performer

What a great event!  You should be -- well, of course you are!  -- proud of your accomplishments! It was an evening of dazzling show stopping numbers!  I hope our organizations can cross paths on events in the future.  Yours seems to be a perfect compliment to DO40 --- John Sefakis – Dancers Over 40 Organization

"Congratulations on a first class show!  Wow!  I really enjoyed everything and the way it was put together with just enough variety.  I thought your people were very strong dancers/singers to boot!  A terrifically put together dance event!!!  Bravo!"  Karin Baker - Director/Choreographer/Writer
